If you were to walk into a room filled with a thousand people, looked around, you'd immediately begin shaping up the room, and for lack of a better term, judge people, based on these same two elements. To themselves: They dressed up, looked good, and talked about something (maybe just to a single person) which was highly valuable and interesting.
Someone else : Noticed how engaging that person was to "their visitor" and they had to come over and check out what was going on, probably grabbing a friend or two along the way to come with them.
Search Optimization Works the Exact Same Way
By being interesting, a crowd drew a crowd. That simple catalyst was first and foremost what started it, and when it comes to search optimization, that is the rule. Provide interesting, valuable content that looks good, and let the crowd draw the crowd for you.
