Website Design and Development

Agghhhhhhhh, the noise is deafening!!!   The number of people claiming to be experts today, is near catastrophic numbers.   How on earth can you break through all that clutter and find someone to design and develop your website idea without wasting days and months on the wrong person and spending way too much of your hard earned money to do so?

Like most things, the KISS method seems to work quite well.  (Keep it Simple Silly [or insert your own more objectionable adjective yourself]).

If you want to know if a child has learned something, how do you find out?  Test them.  If you want to know if the web developer you’re considering knows what they’re doing, do the same thing.  Test them.

Every Relationship Begins With a Make or Break Period of Trust Building

Start with something small, something that is on your wish list and not your priority list.   If they impress you, (and thats really the key), they can’t just get it done, they need to impress you when they do, and that is what will let you know whether to give them a second test.

Did they respond to your initial contact quickly?

Did they go above and beyond the project task if possible?

Did they give you daily or even more frequent status updates?

Did they make suggestions to showcase their knowledge?

And really, did you get along with them?

That personal relationship, will be one where you’ll need to have trust and an understanding, and all the testimonials, all the portfolios, none of them will tell you that.  But a small project will, because it cuts through the talk, and gets straight to the action.

Good luck, and web hope to you give us a shot at your website design and development project, we’ll be sure to do our best to impress.

I guess sometimes you just have to use common sense when it comes to finding a professional. Like you said, there are so many claimed to be experts in website design and development. Probably the best way to find them is through word of mouth. Ask someone you know who may be able to give you a referral. Give them a small project first to test it out and trust your instinct.
