Big Company Phone Service – tiny price

Thursday, January 15th, 2009

I normally don’t blog about the little things I find to save money or grow my business everyday.  They’re usually just pennies saved or a dollar earned, (but hey the turtle wins the race, I’ve heard).  This one is worth mentioning though.  I’ve been wanting to get an 800 number for a long time.  I mean what small business doesn’t want to look bigger than they are.  I want large clients to have a perception of me, I think an 800 number is one piece of that puzzle?  Anyhow, I found this service called RingCentral.

Now there are lots of places to get an 800 number but none (that I found anyway) which give you a free 30 day trial.  I was like how can you go wrong with that.   Turns out I’ll probably be keeping it, especially since I refreshed the page so many times to find an 800 number which also had the word “web” in it.   Usually you have to pay extra to get that naming, but if you get lucky you don’t.

I ended up finding 1-800-31-IT-WEB.   I know I could probably have paid for something slightly better, but if that pops up and its there for the standard price, (I think it saved me around $100), I had to jump on it.   Plus I its a free 30 day trial so the risk is minimal.  I’m only a little ways into it, but so far I’ve received probably about 25% more calls per visitor than I was getting before putting that up.   Sure part of is it placement, but placing an 800 number at the top of your site makes much more sense than my local number.  So I wouldn’t have placed it there without it.

Highly recommended for anyone who is on the brink of one day being BIG business like we are : -)

Oh and they have a fax service too.  If you try the fax thing or already have, can you drop me a comment about it.  I already do internet faxing, but again, its a matter of appearances and perception which often lead to more sales.  I need some opinions on that before I try though.  I don’t get 100’s of faxes usually.
