All the search optimization in the world isn’t going to help if you don’t submit your site to the search engines for crawling. It’s very important that you re-do this often too. I try and resubmit once a month at least, and do this for all of my ongoing clients. 

• Google. The No. 1 search engine
• Yahoo ! Free submission to yahoo, but requires registration
• MSN (requires visiting their site)
• These are some smaller search engines, which you can do less often.
