Internet Marketing Consultant

You and your business are unique.   An internet marketing consultant is someone who can use your uniqueness to meet the five critical success factors of a great internet marketing plan.

Factor One
Quickly Explain the Problem You Solve : We all know that we have short attention spans.  So its not only important to convey a message effectively, but we have to do it quickly as well.   Especially when it comes to websites.   4-5 seconds is all you get, and after spending all the time and energy it takes to get them there, you don’t want to waste that on a 4-5 second stay.  So great headline copy, in an easy to read design, is where it starts.

Credibility and High Perceived Value : If I tell you that a pack of gum is 50 cents, you might not see it has a high value.  But if I said, its half the price of what it was yesterday, that grabs your attention.   But if I add, that its half the price of what it was yesterday, because Donald Trump chews it and wants you to try it.  Well then I’ve just added credibility to a great value.  And plainly put its going to be hard to turn down.

Factor Three
Draw Attention : Its not enough to have a great offer, its not enough to be credible with lots of satisfied customers.  You also need to make sure everyone KNOWS it.  With the clutter and noise that you have to compete against this is one of the hardest jobs an internet marketing consultant has.   Luckily on the internet, one of the best ways to make noise can be accomplished by anyone with the time and effort to do so.  Check out our internet marketing tools section to see some strategies.

Factor Four
Close the deal, (follow-up) : Not everyone is ready to buy today.  So there is a two parter to factor four.  Make sure you ask if they are ready, (ie. click here to buy now) and if they aren’t ready today, make sure you grab some contact information so that you can follow up with them when they are ready.   On the internet this should come easy if you’ve done the first three factors well.  The visitor has already taken the time to visit your site, they’re already invested in reading your page, if they like what they read (HIGH VALUE) they will have no problem hearing from you again.

Factor Five
Test, Abandon, Rollout, Tweak, Upsell :  Now here’s where the money is made.  You have a product or service, you have an offer, now do some testing and see what the market reaction is.   If its a winner (and be careful here, even a slight winner is a jackpot — if you read this you’ll see why) then you tweak and optimize, and work on keeping customers coming back for more with strong upsells, crossells, backend sells and more.

Test, Abandon, Rollout, Tweak, Upsell matters for any product on the internet. If you remain static too long, the competition will just run you over with new features, better usability, better marketing strategies to draw on untapped niches, etc.

  2. Hey, I really like the way you’ve broken this out into 5 distinct parts. In all the years I’ve been marketing online I’ve found the followup to be so important. Usually on about the 3rd followup about a product (via email marketing) is when I see best conversions…follow up is a key thats neglected by so many people.

I’ve been making a good living from internet marketing for almost 2 years. If you know what are doing, you can make lots of money. I highly recommend building a list right away and then writing articles. Set up your squeeze page first and start to build relationships. That’s how you make the big bucks.

  4. Yep, it’s a good breakdown of the process. A lot of people balk at pay per click advertising right up front, but it’s the only quick way to get traffic, since SEO takes time. PPC used to be much more cost effective though! It is pretty expensive now that everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. I remember the days when people thought advertising on the Internet was a waste of money! No more!

  5. I agree that follow up is one of the most important actions in marketing – off line or on line :-)
