How to Start a Website with out Failing
After years of experience in building, maintaining and managing a huge variety of websites, here is a tell all for what makes one website successful over another.
10. Work Less : That might sound weird, but it addresses two things you’re probably doing wrong. Working a Lot, and Getting Nothing Done. In order to get more done, you have to work less. Why? Because you’re not focused. If you worked for 3 hours, but were 100% focused on what you need to get done, I’ll guarantee you’ll get more done in those three hours than you would have in 8.
9. Solve a Problem : Really isn’t that what business is? You’re solving a problem for someone and they’re going to pay you to do it. Whether you need your lawn mowed or your car fixed, there’s always a problem that needs to be solved.
8. Be Yourself : If you write all of your marketing pieces as if you were holding a conversation with the reader, it will be exponentially more effective for you.
7. Love What You Do : If you are passionate about the products and/or services you will provide it will show through in everything you do.
6. Start Outsourcing As Soon As Possible : This might sound a little self serving since we provide web development services, web design services, internet marketing services, and internet marketing tools, but I had to throw a plug in somewhere
Just kidding, there is a method behind this madness. You see, one person cannot do it all. Maybe you’ll need to at first, but as soon as possible start delegating your responsibilities (after you’ve defined them) and that will open up more and more time for you to focus on being yourself, and loving what you do, which will lead to more sales, which will lead to you needing to outsource more, which will lead to… I think you get the idea. Make good use of other peoples time, and you’ll be able to make better use of yours.
5. Know Your Customer : Maybe this should say Love Your Customer. Its so important that you love your customer, that you understand who they are and what their dreams, aspirations, and needs are. It will lead to better marketing efforts, better conversion rates, and better retention. The three things any business must do well to survive.
4. Obey Newtons Laws : A customer is not a customer until they go from InAction to Action. The action of moving their money out of their pocket and into your hands. You might also call this rule : Always Be Closing. The better you are at closing (or converting in website terms) the better every other part of your business will be. The person who closes best can spend 100 times the amount on advertising, and that alone can make you a dominate figure.
3. Keep Your Customers : If you’re running a business which a customer only uses once and then moves on, then you will be a slave to your business instead of a business owner. You have to be able to keep your customers once you get them, because it is probably close to 1793% easier to keep a customer than it is to find and close a new one.
2. Plan – Blueprint : Creating the plan that will get you where you want to go. Without this plan, you will only go where your luck takes you. That luck could be good or bad and change very easily. With a plan, you will know where you are going in advance and be focused on getting there.
1. The work you do outside of the website : Lets face it, this is the thing no one wants to hear and everyone is hoping they can get a way around. A website is a business, a business takes work and you have to be willing to do that work if you want success. If you’ve been searching for the secret to easy online success, the secret to earning millions without doing anything it doesn’t exist. No matter what the get rich quick scheme is, they never tell you about the one thing that actually gets you rich in every single one of those programs : Work smart and hard every day.
